Shopify Subscriptions

Connect Shopify native subscriptions to Cadence — enable with no credentials, subscription sync, and management.

Shopify Subscriptions (native selling plans) is a subscription platform option for Cadence stores that use Shopify’s built-in subscription feature instead of a third-party tool like Recharge or Skio.

What Shopify Subscriptions provides

  • Subscription contracts — native Shopify subscription data
  • Selling plans — subscribe-and-save options configured in Shopify
  • Subscription management — full management capabilities through ConvertCart (when enabled)

Connecting Shopify Subscriptions

Go to Integrations → Shopify Subscriptions in the Cadence app.

  1. Click Enable
  2. Connection is established automatically using your existing Shopify app install

No API keys, OAuth, or credentials needed. Cadence uses the Shopify Admin API permissions already granted at app install.

One subscription platform at a time

Only one subscription platform can be connected. Disconnect Recharge, Skio, or Loop before enabling Shopify Subscriptions.

Prerequisites in Shopify

Before enabling, ensure you have:

  • Selling plans configured on your products in Shopify (Settings → Subscriptions, or per-product selling plan groups)
  • Subscription contracts active for existing subscribers
  • The Cadence app installed with subscription contract scopes (included in standard install)

If you haven’t set up selling plans yet, configure them in Shopify Admin before enabling this integration.

Required setup in Shopify

No webhooks, API keys, or manual configuration needed. Cadence reads subscription contract data through the Shopify Admin API as part of the daily sync cycle.

Management capabilities

Shopify Subscriptions supports the full range of Subscription Management actions:

Action Supported
Change delivery date Yes
Change frequency Yes
Skip delivery Yes
Pause subscription Yes
Swap product Yes
Add product to subscription Yes
Remove product from subscription Yes
Cancel (with retention offers) Yes

See Subscription Management for configuration details.

After enabling

Once enabled:

  • Cadence syncs Shopify subscription contracts daily
  • Subscription upsell predictions generate for eligible one-time buyers
  • Existing subscribers are excluded from upsell predictions
  • Active subscription count appears on the integration detail page

Note: Shopify Subscriptions appears on the full Integrations page but is not listed in the onboarding subscription platform picker (which shows Recharge, Skio, and Loop). You can enable it anytime after onboarding.
