Recharge
Connect Recharge to Cadence — OAuth setup, subscription sync, upsell predictions, and reconnection for Subscription Management.
Recharge is Cadence’s most common subscription platform integration. Connecting Recharge enables subscription upsell predictions and (optionally) Subscription Management through ConvertCart.
What Recharge provides to Cadence
- Subscription status — which customers already subscribe (excluded from upsell predictions)
- Subscription plans — available subscribe-and-save options for upsell offers
- Subscription management — skip, pause, swap, and cancel actions (when Subscription Management is enabled)
Connecting Recharge
Go to Integrations → Recharge in the Cadence app.
- Click Connect
- You’ll be redirected to Recharge to authorize Cadence
- Approve the requested permissions
- You’ll return to the Cadence app with the connection confirmed
No API key needed — OAuth handles authentication automatically.
One subscription platform at a time
Only one subscription platform can be connected. If you have Skio, Loop, or Shopify Subscriptions connected, disconnect it first before connecting Recharge.
Required setup in Recharge
For most stores, no additional configuration in Recharge is needed beyond connecting. Cadence reads your existing subscription data via the Recharge API.
Ensure you have:
- Active subscribe-and-save plans configured in Recharge
- Discount and interval options set up for the products you want to offer via subscription upsell
What Cadence does with Recharge data
| Feature | How Recharge data is used |
|---|---|
| Subscription upsell | Identifies one-time buyers ready to subscribe; excludes existing subscribers |
| Replenishment | Unchanged — based on Shopify order history |
| Subscription Management | Powers skip, pause, swap, cancel actions in ConvertCart |
| Active subscriber count | Shown on the Recharge integration detail page |
Subscription Management and reconnection
If Subscription Management is enabled after your initial Recharge connection, you may need to disconnect and reconnect Recharge:
- Initial connection uses read-only permissions (subscriptions, customers, plans)
- Subscription Management requires write permissions (modify subscriptions, read/write orders and products)
- The Cadence app will prompt you if reconnection is needed
To reconnect:
- Go to Integrations → Recharge
- Click Disconnect
- Click Connect again and re-authorize with expanded permissions
Recharge platform limitations
When using Recharge with Subscription Management:
- Add/remove subscription lines is not supported — Recharge’s API doesn’t allow adding or removing individual line items through Cadence
- All other management actions (skip, pause, swap product, change frequency, change delivery date, cancel) are supported
See Subscription Management for the full list of supported actions.
After connecting
Once connected, Cadence syncs subscription data as part of the daily cycle. You’ll see:
- Connection status — Connected, with last sync time
- Active subscriptions — count of active Recharge subscriptions
- Events delivered today — if Recharge is also used as a marketing platform (it’s not — this shows subscription sync activity)
Subscription upsell predictions begin generating after your store is enabled and the first daily sync completes.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| OAuth redirect fails | Ensure you’re logged into the correct Recharge account |
| Subscription upsell not generating | Confirm store is enabled and Recharge sync has completed (allow 24 hours) |
| Management actions not working | Reconnect Recharge if Subscription Management was enabled after initial connect |
| Can’t connect — another platform active | Disconnect the current subscription platform first |
