What is Cadence?

An overview of Cadence for Shopify store owners — what it does, who it's for, and how it fits into your marketing stack.

Cadence is a Shopify app built for CPG and consumable brands — skincare, supplements, food & beverage, personal care, and similar categories where customers buy the same products on a recurring rhythm.

Instead of sending the same reorder email to everyone on a fixed schedule, Cadence reads each customer’s order history and identifies when that individual is ready to buy again, at risk of churning, primed for a complementary product, or ready to subscribe.

What Cadence does for your store

Cadence handles three jobs:

  1. Understands your customers — Imports order, product, and customer data from Shopify and learns each customer’s buying rhythm.
  2. Identifies revenue moments — Flags customers who are due to reorder, about to lapse, ready for cross-sell, or primed for subscription.
  3. Delivers personalized experiences — Sends structured events to your marketing platform (Klaviyo, Omnisend, Attentive, or Postscript), powers on-site Nudges, and provides one-tap ConvertCart checkout pages.

Cadence does not send emails or SMS directly. Your existing marketing platform sends the messages — Cadence tells it who to reach and when, with the product and cart context already attached.

Who Cadence is for

Cadence works best for Shopify brands that:

  • Sell consumable or replenishable products
  • Have repeat purchasers (not one-and-done purchases)
  • Already use an email or SMS platform like Klaviyo or Attentive
  • Want to grow revenue from existing customers without relying on blanket discount campaigns

If your customers typically buy once and never return, Cadence won’t have enough order history to make meaningful predictions.

What Cadence is not

  • Not a replacement for Klaviyo or your ESP — Cadence is the intelligence layer; your marketing platform is the delivery layer.
  • Not a generic email scheduler — Messages are triggered by individual customer behavior, not calendar dates.
  • Not a subscription platform — Cadence integrates with Recharge, Skio, Loop, or Shopify Subscriptions but does not manage subscriptions itself (unless Subscription Management is enabled).

The four prediction types

Cadence identifies four types of revenue moments for each customer:

Prediction What it means
Replenishment The customer is due to reorder a product they’ve bought before
Lapse prevention The customer hasn’t reordered in longer than expected and may be churning
Cross-sell The customer is ready to discover a complementary product
Subscription upsell A repeat buyer is primed to convert from one-time purchase to subscribe-and-save

Each prediction includes the relevant product, a pre-built cart link, and customer context — ready for your marketing flows to use.
