Nudges

Configure on-site Nudges — display settings, branding, content, theme embed, and test mode.

Nudges are on-site widgets that appear to logged-in Shopify customers who have an active Cadence prediction. They provide a second touchpoint beyond email and SMS — reaching customers while they’re already browsing your store.

How Nudges work

  1. A logged-in customer visits your Shopify storefront
  2. Cadence checks if they have an active prediction
  3. If yes, a Nudge widget appears after a configurable delay
  4. The customer clicks the Nudge CTA and lands on ConvertCart
  5. They complete purchase through Shopify checkout

Nudges only appear to logged-in customers with an active prediction. Guest visitors never see Nudges.

Prerequisites

Before Nudges can appear on your storefront:

  1. Enable Nudges in Cadence app → Nudges → Settings → General
  2. Enable the Cadence Nudges app embed in your Shopify theme editor

Enabling the theme app embed

  1. Go to Nudges → Settings in the Cadence app
  2. Click the link to open your Shopify theme editor (or go to Online Store → Themes → Customize)
  3. In the theme editor, click App embeds in the left sidebar
  4. Find Cadence Nudges and toggle it on
  5. Save the theme

The Cadence onboarding screen includes a direct link to the theme editor. Nudges will not appear until this embed is active.

Settings tabs

Access Nudge settings at Nudges → Settings in the Cadence app.

Branding

Override ConvertCart branding specifically for Nudges, or inherit ConvertCart settings:

Override ConvertCart branding Use separate Nudge-specific branding
Logo URL Nudge logo (if overriding)
Colors Background, text, button, and accent colors
Border radius Corner rounding
Fonts Font family and URL
Backdrop opacity Opacity of the overlay behind center popup mode

Content

Customize Nudge text per prediction type. Each type has separate fields for messages with and without a discount:

Field Description
Headline Primary Nudge text
Body Supporting description
CTA text Button label

Available placeholders: {first_name}, {discount}, {product_name}, {price}

Example headline: Time to restock, {first_name}!

Offers

Read-only view of the discount codes configured in ConvertCart settings. Nudges use the same discount codes — configure them in ConvertCart → Settings → Offers.

Test mode

Preview Nudges on your storefront without waiting for a real prediction:

  1. Enter a test email address (must be a customer in your Shopify store)
  2. Save test mode settings
  3. Log in to your storefront as that customer (or use an incognito window with their account)
  4. The Nudge appears based on that customer’s active predictions

Test mode is useful for verifying branding, copy, and placement before going live.

Nudge analytics

View Nudge performance at Nudges in the Cadence app sidebar:

  • Impressions, clicks, CTR, and revenue
  • Breakdown by prediction type
  • Daily trend chart

See Dashboard for the summary view.

Best practices

  • Start with corner widget mode — less intrusive than center popup; higher long-term engagement
  • Use a 3–5 second trigger delay — let the page load before showing the Nudge
  • Enable “Don’t show again” — respects customer preference and reduces annoyance
  • Test before launch — use test mode to verify appearance on both desktop and mobile
  • Match your brand — consistent colors and fonts with your storefront build trust
