Daily cycle and event delivery

When Cadence syncs data, recalculates predictions, and delivers events — and how to configure your event delivery time.

Cadence runs automatically every day. Understanding the daily cycle helps you know when to expect new predictions, when events arrive in your marketing platform, and when analytics update.

The daily cycle

Each day, Cadence performs these steps in order:

  1. Sync Shopify data — Pull new orders, updated products, and customer changes from your Shopify store
  2. Recalculate predictions — Re-evaluate every customer based on the latest data; generate new predictions, update existing ones, and clear predictions for customers who purchased
  3. Deliver events — Send cadence_prediction events to all connected marketing platforms for customers with active predictions
  4. Sync profile properties — Update cadence_* profile properties on each customer in your marketing platform(s)

You don’t trigger any of these steps manually. The cycle runs automatically once your store is enabled.

Event delivery time

Events are delivered in a single batch at your configured event delivery time. This is the hour (in your store’s timezone) when all active prediction events are sent to your marketing platform(s).

Default: Set during your enablement call by the Cadence team.

To change: Go to Settings → Event delivery time in the Cadence app. Select an hour between 0 (midnight) and 23 (11 PM) in your store’s timezone.

Choosing a delivery time

Consider when your customers are most likely to engage:

  • Morning (8–10 AM): Good for email — lands in inbox when customers start their day
  • Midday (11 AM–1 PM): Works for both email and SMS
  • Evening (6–8 PM): Strong for SMS; email may get buried overnight

Your marketing platform’s flow logic controls when the actual message is sent after receiving the event. Some platforms send immediately on event receipt; others may queue or delay. Check your platform’s flow settings.

What happens between cycles

Between daily cycles:

  • New Shopify orders are captured via webhooks in near-real-time, but predictions aren’t recalculated until the next cycle
  • ConvertCart links remain active — customers can click and purchase at any time
  • Nudges continue showing to logged-in customers with active predictions
  • Analytics update as ConvertCart purchases and Nudge conversions occur

First cycle after enablement

When your store is first enabled:

  1. Cadence completes any remaining data import
  2. The first prediction run generates predictions for all eligible customers
  3. Events are delivered at the next scheduled delivery time
  4. Your marketing platform flows begin triggering
  5. Dashboard analytics start populating over the following days

Don’t expect immediate results — allow 24–48 hours after enablement for the first full cycle to complete and initial messages to reach customers.

Subscription platform sync

If you have a subscription platform connected, subscription data syncs as part of the daily cycle. This ensures:

  • Customers who already subscribe are excluded from subscription upsell predictions
  • Subscription Management features reflect current subscription status
  • Active subscription counts shown on your integration detail page stay current

Troubleshooting timing

Events not appearing in my marketing platform:

  • Check that your store is enabled (not still in onboarding)
  • Verify your integration shows “Connected” status
  • Confirm the current time is past your event delivery time for today
  • Events deliver once per day — they won’t appear immediately after connecting an integration

Predictions seem stale:

  • Predictions recalculate daily — a customer who ordered 2 hours ago won’t have their prediction cleared until the next cycle
  • ConvertCart purchases are tracked in real-time, but prediction status updates at the next cycle

Analytics not updating:

  • Dashboard metrics update as ConvertCart purchases occur (real-time)
  • Prediction counts and event delivery metrics update after each daily cycle
