Core Concepts
ConvertCart
What ConvertCart is, how it works for customers, and how it connects to your marketing messages and Nudges.
ConvertCart is Cadence’s branded, login-free cart experience. Every link in your Cadence-powered emails, SMS messages, and on-site Nudges points to a ConvertCart page — a pre-filled cart on your store’s domain where customers can review, adjust, and purchase without logging in.
Why ConvertCart exists
Traditional ecommerce checkout has friction: customers click an email link, land on a product page, add to cart, navigate to cart, then checkout. Each step loses customers.
ConvertCart eliminates those steps. The customer clicks one link in your message and lands on a ready-to-buy cart with their product already added, your branding applied, and a direct path to Shopify checkout.
How it works for customers
- Customer receives an email or SMS with a Cadence-powered message
- They click the CTA link (the
cart_urlfrom the Cadence event) - They land on a ConvertCart page on your store’s domain (e.g.,
yourstore.com/a/cadence/cart/...) - The page shows their pre-filled cart with the relevant product(s), your branding, and optional discount
- They click checkout and complete purchase through standard Shopify checkout
- No account login required
ConvertCart modes
ConvertCart adapts its content based on the prediction type that drove the visit:
| Mode | What the customer sees |
|---|---|
| Replenishment | Their previously purchased product, ready to reorder |
| Lapse prevention | Their previously purchased product with optional win-back discount |
| Cross-sell | The recommended complementary product |
| Subscription upsell | Their regular product with a subscribe-and-save option |
| Reorder | General reorder experience for returning customers |
| Manage | Subscription management interface (when Subscription Management is enabled) |
Each mode has its own heading, body copy, and CTA text — all configurable in ConvertCart settings.
What you configure
ConvertCart is fully customizable from the Cadence app under ConvertCart → Settings:
- Branding — logo, colors, fonts, border radius
- Content — headings, body text, and CTA labels per cart mode
- Offers — Shopify discount codes applied per prediction type
- Recommendations — optional cross-sell product suggestions on cart pages
- Tracking — UTM parameters and custom tracking snippets
See ConvertCart settings for the complete configuration guide.
ConvertCart and revenue attribution
Purchases completed through ConvertCart are attributed to Cadence in your analytics. This is a direct-path model — only purchases where the customer clicked a ConvertCart link and completed checkout count as Cadence-attributed revenue.
Purchases where a customer received a Cadence email but bought through your regular storefront (without clicking the ConvertCart link) are not attributed to Cadence.
See Revenue attribution for details.
ConvertCart URLs
Each prediction generates a unique ConvertCart URL for that customer and product combination. These URLs are included in:
- The
cart_urlproperty oncadence_predictionevents (for your marketing flows) - The
cadence_*_cart_urlprofile properties (for segmentation and LiveBlock) - On-site Nudge CTAs
URLs are stable for the duration of the prediction — if a customer clicks the same link multiple times, they see the same cart.
Subscription option on ConvertCart
When a subscription platform is connected and the prediction type is subscription upsell, ConvertCart can display a subscribe-and-save option alongside the one-time purchase. The subscription terms and pricing come from your connected subscription platform.
If Subscription Management is enabled, ConvertCart also serves as the interface where existing subscribers can manage their subscriptions (skip, pause, swap, cancel).
See Subscription Management for details.
